Black and White

We are seeking images where the main subject is primarily Black, white, or both; a small amount of colour is permitted providing the main focus remains on a black or white subject.

(For instance, Chess Board and pieces, a Herd of Zebra or Sheet of News Paper)

Put your thinking caps on for this one don’t just desaturate a coloured image

Anything goes here but members are encouraged to try techniques and subjects which show their creative and technical skills.

Macro and Close up

Macro is where a camera focuses very close to a subject to allow you to see it in greater detail.

We are asking you to produce an image that you feel is enhanced by using Macro or Close up techniques of photography.

Landscape

An expanse of natural scenery that can be seen in a single view.

We would like you to produce a photographic image that captures the spirit of the outdoors. An area of land,  wild, cultivated, or even industrial it’s up to you.

We are asking you to produce an image that shows an item in the process of Moving.

( Movement is an object showing a change of direction,

position or location )

Flora

Flora includes all plant life in or away from its environment. The plant or flower itself must be the focus of your image. Any animals, insects or other objects should only be peripheral if included as an essential part of the plant’s environment. You may also decide to zoom in on a small detail of the plant.

Reflection

Reflection

We are asking you to produce an image of how you perceive Reflection
Whether it be a reflection in a mirror or still water or possibly someone in deep thought, the subject is entirely up to your interpretation of the topic.


October 28th
Portrait

Portrait is an artistic representation of a person or persons in which the face and its expression is predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality and mood of the person. The portrait may be formal or informal, indoors or outdoors, natural or artificial light. Glamour and nude photography is eligible providing it is tasteful and artistic – decision of suitability rests with the Competition Secretary. Ensure that the background is only included if it compliments the subject.


November 25th
POTY

All the 19pts & 20pts scoring images from Prints and DPI sections of the internal competitions of the past year are to be independently judged to ascertain the best printed image, the best DPI image and finally the Best overall image.
